Mother’s Day Mini Session Recap

I'm Stephanie
And I’m A Big Fan Of Capturing The Ordinary Moments That Make Life Extraordinary

One of my favorite ways to connect with the communitiy around me has been to hold Mother’s Day mini sessions. This year, I set aside four weeks in May and offered quick sessions to families looking for updated family photos. Not only were the photos amazing, but the time I spent with each family was incredibly special and fun.

How Do Mini Sessions Work?

Mini sessions are a quick and easy alternative to booking and preparing for a full family photo session. They can provide the best of both worlds—especially for families with little ones—because you get to preserve your memories without having to sacrifice a nap time or schedule your whole day around the session.

For these Mother’s Day minis, I traveled to each family’s home. Before booking their session, each family knew to plan for a “front porch” session, which meant that I would come to them. We could hang out on the front porch swing, in the backyard by the swingset, or any outdoor space on their property that they wanted. It was so much fun to get to see each family living it up and playing together in a space that they love.

Following the session, I got to work looking through all of the moments we captured, choosing the best moments and editing! Once they were ready, the full gallery was delivered to the families and they chose their favorite two (and of course, they had the option to purchase the full gallery, if desired!).

Preparing For a Mini Session

When I come to you for a mini-session, there’s not much that you have to do in advance! The only thing you may want to think about ahead of time is what everyone in your family is going to wear. But if you’re not sure or feel overwhelmed trying to coordinate outfits, don’t stress! I’m more than happy to provide my very best styling advice to help you feel put together and comfortable.

My biggest tip for any type of photo session is to dress in a way that feels like you—don’t try to wear something you wouldn’t normally choose because it’s going to show all over your face. I would much rather have you in something that makes you feel good and allows you to stay present in the moment with your favorite people.

If you have young kiddos that are going to be participating in the photo session, I would also recommend having them get their nap in and a quick snack prior to my arrival. This helps them feel content and happy while we snap away, which will always result in better photos.

How To Book a Mini Session

If you’re in the market for a mini session of your own, you’re in luck! I offer both seasonal mini sessions throughout the year, and I also offer mini sessions on your schedule if you’re looking for something more flexible.

All you have to do is head over to my website, and you can book the session that’s right for you! I try to make booking as easy and accessible as possible so you can get the photos you want on  your timeline.

If you’re specifically looking for Mother’s Day mini sessions, I’ll definitely be offering them again next year! I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful families in the area—especially when I get to make mom front and center in every single photo.
